
Timberline's founding principal partners, Kevin Deighan and David Mudgett, combined have more than 50 years of experience in commercial real estate development, encompassing grocery-anchored centers, regional malls, community centers, single-tenant built-to-suit buildings, lifestyle centers, mixed-use developments and outlet centers.
As Timberline has expanded over the years, the company has brought on five more professionals adept at meeting client needs and finding solutions to specific challenges. The Timberline team includes:
David Mudgett
Mr. Mudgett has over 35 years of experience in the planning, development, leasing and operations of commercial real estate in the US,
Mexico and Asia.
Commencing his career at the Rouse Company, Columbia, Md., as a Regional Mall Leasing Manager and later as Director of Sales and Leasing, he spent 9 years on their regional malls and the retail strategic plan for the new city of Columbia, MD.
In 1979, Mr. Mudgett joined Evans Development as its Sr. VP for Leasing and later became the Executive VP for Leasing and Development. Projects included the redevelopment and management of the 1.5 million square foot Bay State West office, hotel, retail mixed-use center in Springfield, MA, and conversion of the National Historic Trust registered Old Post Office Building on Pennsylvania Ave. Washington, D.C. into an office and specialty retail center.
In 1985, Mr. Mudgett joined The Irvine Company, Newport Beach, CA. as the President of The Irvine Retail Properties Company. His division had full responsibility for the development, leasing, construction, management and marketing the Irvine Company’s 30+ shopping centers. Under his direction, the Company developed the 750,000 sq. ft. Tustin Marketplace power center; the Target/Mervyns anchored Crossroads Center in Irvine, the $125 mm renovation and expansion of their 1.3 million sq. ft. super regional mall, Fashion Island, as well as, 12 neighborhood centers in Orange County, California.
In 1989, Mr. Mudgett joined Koll Development Company as President of the Retail division. Areas of focus included retail centers in Texas, California and Washington. In Southern California, his team master planned the award winning Rancho Santa Margarita Town Center, developing the first 2 phases totaling over 400,000 sq. ft. During this period, Mr. Mudgett also oversaw Koll’s international activities, first in Mexico City and Jalapa, Mexico, and then moving to Shanghai, China in 1995, where as President of Koll’s Asian operations, he oversaw commercial and industrial projects in China, Taiwan, Thailand and Malaysia.
After returning to the US in 1998, Mr. Mudgett joined with Kevin Deighan, a long time associate, in Timberline Commercial Real Estate. Their objective has been to acquire and develop retail, office, hotel and residential facilities.
Kevin Deighan
Mr. Deighan, the founder of Timberline Commercial Real Estate, has over 20 years of real estate experience in the planning, entitlement, development, leasing and operations of commercial real estate in the Western United States.
Mr. Deighan started his career with the Trammell Crow Company as a Leasing Principal, on a Team responsible for the entitlement, marketing and leasing a 1.8M square foot mixed-use project in Irvine, California. Mr. Deighan left Trammell Crow to start up the Los Angeles Retail Division for The Koll Company. Mr. Deighan later served as the individual in charge of the Retail Division for the State of California for the Koll Company. Working with Mr. Mudgett, he was responsible for the entitlement, leasing and development of several commercial projects totaling over 800,000 square feet.
Mr. Deighan founded Timberline Commercial Real Estate in 1995 with its base of operations in Vail, Colorado and Irvine, CA. Timberline has developed over 25 commercial and mixed-use projects since its inception. These projects include 3 Albertson's anchored shopping centers, the redevelopment of 2 mixed-use projects that include office, residential and retail components, the development of the largest single residential condominium in Vail, CO, the redevelopment of a 130,000 square foot retail center and self storage facility in Albuquerque, NM, and the development of multiple retail centers throughout Colorado and California. In addition, Timberline has been involved in the development and redevelopment of multiple properties on behalf of national retailers including Smart and Final, Trader Joe's, Carl's Jr., Arby's, CSK Auto, Chipolte, Burger King, Hollywood Video, Lucy's Laundry Mart, Union Bank and Sherwin Williams.
Timberline's current development projects include the development of a 500,000 square foot Class A office development in Corona, CA; 130 room Residence Inn and 37 residential condominiums in Vail, CO; retail centers in Otay Mesa and Lake Elsinore, CA, two Walgreen's buildings, and 2 Carl's Jr. build-to-suit transactions.
Mr. Deighan in conjunction with IDS Real Estate has acted as the Master broker for Trader Joe's throughout the Midwest and Western states. In this capacity, he has handled the site selection for over 100 locations on behalf of Trader Joe's over the past 7 years.
In July 2000, Mr. Mudgett joined with Kevin Deighan, a long time associate, as a Managing Principal of Timberline Commercial Real Estate. Their objective continues to be to acquire and develop retail, office, hotel and residential facilities.
Greg Gastineau
Greg Gastineau has over 15 years of experience in the commercial real estate industry developing multi family, industrial, office, and retail properties in the Western United States. A graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder, Mr. Gastineau began his career as a commercial real estate broker specializing in the sale of investment properties.
As the Director of Development for The O’Connor Group in Boulder, Colorado, he led the project teams responsible for the design, construction and leasing of over 500,000 square feet of commercial real estate. Projects included the development of a 70-acre industrial park, several build-to-suit industrial buildings, the McCaslin Plaza shopping center, and two multi family housing projects.
Later, as an associate of Walnut Canyon Partners, Mr. Gastineau oversaw the redevelopment of a one-half block parcel in downtown Boulder. This project included the renovation of an existing 28,000 square foot office building, and the construction of a new 90,000 square foot office building and parking structure. Other responsibilities with Walnut Canyon Partners included the leasing and management of the award winning Willard Building.
Mr. Gastineau joined Timberline Commercial Real Estate in 2001, and is responsible for managing the design and construction of Timberline’s many projects. In addition to overseeing Build to Suit operations, he continues to be integrally involved in the development of retail, office, industrial, and mixed-use projects in Colorado and California.
Tom O'Meara
Since joining the Timberline Commercial Real Estate team in 2004, Tom O'Meara has played a key role in the company's development, site acquisition, leasing and brokerage activities.
Previous to joining Timberline, O'Meara was an associate at Marcus & Millichap, where he was an investment broker specializing in retail investment properties. He graduated from the University of San Diego with a bachelor of arts degree with an emphasis in real estate.
